Veterans Day

Veterans Day

Cantigny Park and the First Division Museum commemorate Veterans Day with a solemn Luminary Tribute that recalls the honor and sacrifice of those who died in combat while serving our country. Approximately 2,200 luminaries are placed on Cantigny’s Parade Field, each representing six 1st Infantry Division soldiers killed in action from World War I to the present. The candles also stand in memory of the more than 650,000 men and women who gave their lives in combat since the Revolutionary War. (from the press release)

This is just a small part of the field.

Backlit

I was all set to take a backlit shot when the sun went behind the clouds. So I hauled out the flash and the lightstand and made my own sun.
